Green Lending


  • Wainwright Bank will provide financing to the GreenBridge Energy Consortium to help nonprofit organizations benefit from clean energy generation without the risks of ownership or maintenance. (June 2010) link


Green Building


  • State Bank of India (SBI), the largest green banking lender in India, is converting 700 branches to a paperless, branchless banking system called Green Channel Counter (GCC). (February 2011)
  • GreenChoice Bank launches in Chicago with retro-fitted bank branches that are eco-friendly. (February 2011)
  • The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has certified 20 more of PNC Bank’s Green Branch® locations in seven states plus the District of Columbia based on environmentally friendly construction and design. (November 2010)
  • GreenChoice Bank is making a commitment to operate in sustainably built branches (including a flagship location in downtown Chicago) and seeking LEED Platinum certification – the highest level of LEED certification that one can obtain.  Plans include new branches to be built green and branches acquired to be evaluated for retrofitting.   • First Green Bank (FCB) has broken ground on their new headquarter building in Eustis, Florida, which is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to become LEED-Platinum certified for New Construction (September 2010) link
